Free show by St. Louis folk metal band Ars Arcanum at The Key STL as part of the Free 4 All Music Showcase.
Ars Arcanum play The Key STL on Sunday, November 8, as part of the Free 4 All Music Showcase in the Grand Central Arts District. It's a St. Louis band, so this is a hometown show.
They describe themselves as a folk metal band that tells epic pulp stories fueled by a love of D&D, sci-fi, costumes and utter weirdness. If that sounds like a specific niche, it's because their sound reaches well beyond folk metal. They pull in psychedelic rock, stoner rock, doom, experimental, doom metal, garage rock and hard alternative. It's a wide net to cast, and the folk metal label is just one part of it.
Behind the music is a five-piece lineup: Steve Atteberry, Jason Myers, Derek Henson, Luke CJ Smith and Cheryl Schaefer. The set is part of the Free 4 All Music Showcase, which runs across the Grand Central Arts District.
