A multimedia concert celebrating America's 250th anniversary featuring the US Naval Academy Glee Club, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and narrator John Goodman.
A Salute to America comes to Powell Hall on Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21, both nights starting at 7:30 PM. It's a St. Louis Symphony Orchestra production marking the nation's 250th anniversary, and it brings together the orchestra, the US Naval Academy Glee Club, and narrator John Goodman.
For the Glee Club, this is a debut with the SLSO. Their midshipmen join the orchestra for a program that pulls from a few different directions: Broadway favorites, patriotic anthems, sea shanties, and choral classics. It's the kind of set that works as well for a family outing as it does for anyone who just likes a big choral sound.
The center of the evening is American Mosaic, a multimedia experience that pairs a sweeping orchestral journey with visuals of the American landscape. John Goodman, an award-winning actor and St. Louis native, provides the narration. Having a local voice lead the storytelling adds a nice touch to a program that's all about the country's 250th.

Both performances run about two hours, including intermission. The concert is part of the SLSO's 2026/27 season—the orchestra's 147th—and falls under the Powell Hall Presents series, which brings non-orchestral performances and diverse artists to the stage. You can catch it either Friday or Saturday night at Powell Hall in the Jack C. Taylor Music Center, both starting at 7:30 PM.
