Opera Theatre of Saint Louis' production of Stephen Sondheim's musical 'A Little Night Music', with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, in the 2027 Festival Season.
Opera Theatre of Saint Louis is bringing A Little Night Music to the Loretto-Hilton Center for the 2027 festival season, with the first performance on May 22. It's a six-Tony-Award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim, with a book by Hugh Wheeler and orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. The production is sung in English, with English captions projected.
The story is described as a luminous blend of comedy and longing, unfolding over a single midsummer weekend at a countryside manor where former lovers and companions gather. Its waltz-filled score gave the world the ballad "Send in the Clowns." The production is conducted by Michael Ellis Ingram, and every performance is accompanied by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
This production is part of the 2027 Festival Season, curated by Artistic Director Patricia Racette. It also marks the 50th year of the company's partnership with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. General Director Andrew Jorgensen's company has staged 46 world premieres and 27 American premieres over its history.
