A creative workshop led by Nina Lazarski where participants learn new watercolour techniques; all materials are provided.
Nina Lazarski is leading a watercolours workshop at Tudor House & Garden on Saturday 10 October, from 11am to 1pm. It's a morning session, so you're in and out by lunchtime. Lazarski will be guiding everyone through creating their own watercolours and picking up a few new techniques along the way, so it works whether you've never touched a brush before or you've got a bit of experience and fancy a different way of working.
One of the best bits is that all the materials are provided on the day, so you don't need to turn up with your own paints, brushes or paper. The only thing they suggest bringing is a folder to carry your artwork home in, which makes sense given that watercolour paper can be a bit awkward to tuck under your arm on the way back.
It's also worth taking a moment to think about where you'll be. Tudor House & Garden is Southampton's oldest museum and the city's most important historic building, and it holds more than 800 years of history right in the heart of the Old Town. The timber-framed Tudor House facing St Michael's Square dates back to the late 15th century, and the adjacent Norman house, King John's Palace, pushes that back another 300 years. It opened as the city's first museum in 1912 and now shares the site with the SeaCity Museum, which tells the story of the RMS Titanic and the wider history of Southampton.
