Liverpool indie rock band The Cheap Thrills perform live at the Heartbreakers venue in Southampton.
The Cheap Thrills play Heartbreakers on Thursday 15 October, with the music starting at 7:30pm. They're a Liverpool indie rock outfit still in their teenage years, and this is part of a UK tour they're running throughout October.
The tour follows their debut album, keep cheap, which came out on 18 September. It's a fresh record, barely a month old by the time they hit Southampton, so the set will be built around the new material. They've spent the last few years playing headline shows at O2 Academy venues, winning the Liverpool Sound City Youth Live Award, and appearing on the Calling Out stage at Kendal Calling. Since then, they've played in London and supported international touring acts that were just breaking through.
Their sound is indie rock, and The Guardian described it as a "messy tumble of garage rock and nifty turn of phrase, a blast live too." That garage rock side is exactly what they're bringing to the stage — loud, guitar-led, and with a bit of a scruffy edge to it. The "nifty turn of phrase" points to the songwriting, so expect a set where the lyrics have as much of a place as the noise.

It's a Thursday night, so it's a mid-week one rather than a weekend slot. The Cheap Thrills are the main feature, and they'll be playing at Heartbreakers in Southampton on 15 October, with the music starting at 7:30pm.
