The Big Moon perform live acoustic in-store shows at Vinilo, part of a nine-date UK tour.
The Big Moon are playing an acoustic set at Vinilo on Sunday 1 November, part of a nine-date UK in-store tour. It's a stripped-back afternoon in a record shop rather than a full-band night at a venue, and the set will draw heavily from their fourth album, Forever.
There's a specific story behind that record. Frontwoman Juliette Jackson lost most of the hearing in one ear after being diagnosed with a cholesteatoma — a benign but destructive cyst inside the eardrum — in 2024. She spent the following months writing songs for an imagined future in which she was healed again, and the band describe Forever as comparing the interconnectedness of everything in the universe with our tiny lives here on earth, and remembering that however small you feel, you still have an effect and are part of something much bigger than yourself. It's a record that comes from a pretty personal place, and hearing those songs acoustic, in a room like Vinilo, should suit the material.
Forever was recorded over three weeks at Bam Bam Studios in Norfolk, with Sam Cohen co-producing alongside the band. It follows 2020's Here Is Everything, an album conceived against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic and Jackson's experience of new motherhood. The Big Moon are a London four-piece, and Jackson has been at the front since she laid the band's foundations eight years ago.

Doors open at 6:30pm, with the band taking the stage at 7pm. It's an acoustic in-store show, so you'll be right up close with the band rather than watching from a distance. If you're around Southampton on the first Sunday of November, it's a good chance to catch them in a small setting.
