Mercury Prize-nominated indie band Sports Team open their UK tour with a live performance at The Brook.
Sports Team are at The Brook on Tuesday 22 September, opening their UK tour with a live performance in Southampton. The night is part of their DIY Alive Tour, presented by Gotobeat and DIY Magazine.
They're a six-piece signed to Island Records, and they've built their following on live word of mouth, drawing round-the-block queues to early gigs at The Five Bells and Moth Club. They recorded their first EP in a converted timberyard in Hammersmith, and they've since sold out venues like Electric Ballroom and Kentish Town Forum. They're described as one of the raucousest, most electrifying and chaotic acts in the UK.
Frontman Alex Rice says their debut album, Deep Down Happy, maps the band's journey of moving in together in Harlesden and then back to their home towns. The record followed the EPs Winter Nets and Keep Walking!, was produced by Burke Reid at London studios including Konk and Livingston, and landed an Annie Mac Hottest Record with the single 'Here's The Thing'.
