A creative learning club for children aged 6½ to 12 years with a spooky autumn theme, exploring the museum, gallery and park areas.
Southampton Culture Club for Kids is back for a spooky autumn special, running from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October at SeaCity Museum. It's a three-day club for children aged 6½ to 12 (Year 2 to Year 8), with each day running 9am to 4pm and drop-off from 8.45am. The sessions are based at the museum's Learning Decks on Havelock Road, but they don't stay put: the group heads out to Southampton City Art Gallery and spends time in the surrounding park areas, so the kids get to experience both the museum and the gallery over the course of the club.
The whole thing is led by the museum's team of educators, and it's aimed at children who like learning through doing and being creative. The sessions follow a weekly theme—this one is 'Spooky Autumn'—and the activities revolve around exploring the past, getting hands-on with the museum and gallery, and making things to take home. It's not just museum staff running the show, either; the team is a mix of Southampton Museums & Art Gallery learning staff, freelance artist practitioners and volunteers, with a minimum staffing ratio of one adult to eight children. The club is organised by Southampton Cultural Services.

If you're planning to sign up, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. A registration form needs to be completed at least five days before the first session, and children need to bring a packed lunch. There's also an optional lunch available for £5.75 cash on the day if you'd rather not pack one. As for the cost, it's £90 for all three days or £35 for a single day, so you can book the full run or just pick the days that work for you.
