A summer creative week for children aged 6 to 12 exploring the past through fun, hands-on activities at SeaCity Museum.
SeaCity Museum is running the Southampton Culture Club for Kids this August, a summer programme of creative weeks for children aged 6½ to 12. Week 3, which runs from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 August, is themed Time Machine! and centres on investigation and discovery, with the group spending the three days exploring the past.
The sessions are led by the museum's own team of educators, who guide the children through the museum and the gallery, combining those visits with making things through a series of creative activities. It's not just about looking at exhibits; the making is a big part of it, and the children take home the artwork they've produced over the course of the week. The museum is the main base, though the group makes occasional trips over to the Art Gallery as part of the programme.

It's a full-day thing, running 9am to 4pm each day, so it works as a proper child-care option for those three days. You drop the kids off at 8.45am and collect them from SeaCity at the end of the day. The age range is 6½ to 12, so it's aimed at primary-school children who've got a bit of a curiosity for history and don't mind getting their hands dirty making things. If you're looking for something to keep them occupied and creative during the summer break, this is a solid shout.
