A life drawing sketching workshop led by artist Emma Morrissey, covering experimental techniques and drawing from life.
Emma Morrissey is leading a life drawing workshop at Southampton City Art Gallery on Saturday 14 November, from 2pm to 5pm. She's an experienced artist and tutor, and the session is all about picking up experimental techniques for making loose, engaging sketches. If you've ever felt your work is a bit too stiff, this is exactly the kind of thing that helps loosen it up.
Morrissey breaks things down from the start: the difference between sketching and drawing, how to actually draw from life, and the use of continuous line and gestural detail. The gallery's own exhibitions feed into the inspiration, so you're sketching in a space where there's plenty to look at around you. It's a session aimed at building confidence, and it's open to adults and young people over 16. All materials are provided, so you just need to turn up.
