Rambert's new dance work 'It's a Sin', inspired by the Channel 4 series, directed and choreographed by Benoit Swan Pouffer.
Rambert bring their new dance work It's a Sin to the Mayflower Theatre from 20 to 22 May 2027, a three-night run in the heart of Southampton. The piece is directed and choreographed by Rambert's Artistic Director, Benoit Swan Pouffer, and it's a reimagining of Russell T Davies' award-winning Channel 4 series of the same name. If you've seen the show, you'll recognise the story; if you haven't, it's a powerful piece of contemporary dance that takes that narrative and puts it on its feet.
Set in 1980s London, it follows Ritchie, Roscoe, Colin and Jill—four young friends chasing identity, connection and a life on their own terms, only to see their world transformed by the unfolding AIDS crisis. It's a story about friendship and loss, and seeing it told through dance rather than dialogue gives it a different kind of weight. Rambert is one of the world's leading contemporary dance companies, and this is a new work they've built from the ground up.
There's a fair bit of weight behind the production, too. It's presented by Rambert and Factory International, and co-produced with Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Capital Theatres in Edinburgh, Sadler's Wells in London and Les Théâtres de la Ville in Luxembourg. Russell T Davies, the Pet Shop Boys and Glyn Fussell are executive producers, and the whole thing was made possible with support from the Colwinston Charitable Trust's 30th Anniversary Fund and Arts Council England's Incentivising Touring scheme. It's a big, multi-city collaboration, so the Mayflower run is part of a wider tour.

Tickets start from £26.50, and the show is recommended for ages 15 and over. It runs from 20 to 22 May at the Mayflower Theatre on Commercial Road, SO15 1GE.
