Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, this reimagining of Moliere's classic dark comedy, directed by Indhu Rubasingham, with Sandra Oh in the title role.
The Misanthrope comes to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Monday 28 September, as part of National Theatre Live. It's a filmed version of the production from the National Theatre, so you're seeing the stage performance as it happened in London rather than a local staging. The play is Martin Crimp's take on Molière's classic dark comedy, directed by Indhu Rubasingham.
Crimp, who also wrote Cyrano de Bergerac, gives the piece a contemporary edge. The story follows Alice, a brilliant novelist who despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society and has to confront the price of speaking her truth. It's billed as a razor-sharp reimagining of the original, and the title role is played by Sandra Oh, known for Killing Eve. This screening is presented as a last chance to catch the show.
