Award-winning interactive show where Mr Sleepybum invents a machine that brings dreams to life for the whole family, featuring dinosaurs, robots and slapstick comedy.
Mr Sleepybum brings Mr Sleepybum's Dream Machine to Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Sunday 4 October, starting at 2:00pm. It's an interactive show for the whole family, so it's one of those Sunday afternoons that works as well for the kids as it does for the adults.
The story is simple enough to follow: Mr Sleepybum is sad because he can't dream, so he builds a machine that magically brings dreams to life. From there, things get properly silly. The machine turns up dinosaurs, robots, car chases and the world's largest blanket, all brought to life through sketches, slapstick and a good deal of nonsense. It's an interactive show, too, so you're not just watching from the seats — you're part of the chaos.
It's not just a local turn, either. The show won Best Kids Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival/UK Kids Comedy Festival 2025, and it was nominated for the same award at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2023 and 2024, and at the Buxton Fringe in 2023. Time Out also named it one of the best kids' shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024, so it's had a fair bit of time to find its feet on the festival circuit before landing here in Southampton.
