A day of clay sculpture for children aged 7 to 13 with guided morning activities and free choice afternoon work.
Southampton City Art Gallery is hosting a Junior Art School Clay Day on Friday 14 August, a full day of clay sculpture for children aged 7 to 13. It runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm, so it's a proper day out rather than a quick drop-in.
The morning is guided, with activities to get everyone started and working with the clay. After lunch, the afternoon is open, so the kids can work on their own ideas and spend as much time as they like on whatever they're making. It's a good balance: some direction to get them going, then the freedom to just get stuck in.
The session is part of the Junior Art School programme at the gallery, which is aimed at that 7 to 13 age group. If you sign up, you'll get a registration form by email that needs to be filled in before the day, so keep an eye on your inbox after booking.
