Jesus Jones 35 Year Anniversary of Doubt

Jesus Jones play The Brook on Sunday 29 November, marking the 35th anniversary of their album Doubt. It's a full-album show, so they'll be running through the record that put them on the map.

If you're not familiar with the history, Doubt came out in 1991 and became a global hit, selling over a million copies in the US. Its lead single, 'Right Here, Right Now', ended up as one of those defining tracks of the nineties. The band formed in London in 1988, with Mike Edwards taking the lead on vocals and songwriting. He'd grown frustrated with the music industry and turned to sampling, which led to their debut single 'Info Freako' and the first album, Liquidizer.

Doubt was the big breakthrough, but they didn't stop there. Their 1993 follow-up, Perverse, got a mixed reception at first for its heavy digital production, though it's since gained a reputation for its intensity and darker tone. After a break and some creative shifts, they revitalised their career in the 2000s, taking charge of their own artistic direction under keyboardist Iain Baker. They've kept releasing new material since then, with Passages arriving in 2018, and they've stayed on the road with international tours.
