Home Education Discovering History Sessions: Southampton Through Time

Tudor House & Garden is running a home education history session on Thursday 1 October, from 10.30am to 11.30am, in the museum education room. It's called Southampton Through Time, and it's part of a series of Discovering History sessions they've put together with home-educating families in mind.

The session is built around the museum's own collection of stories and objects, and it takes children and adults on a tour of Southampton's history and beyond. This first one covers a huge stretch of time: it starts in prehistory and works its way through the Roman, Saxon, medieval, Victorian and modern eras. Rather than focusing on one specific period, it pulls from across the city's past, so you get a sense of how the place has changed from its earliest days right up to the present.

It's aimed at children aged 6 and over, and the way it's set up is designed for families to do together. Each ticket covers one young person aged 6+ and one adult, and if you've got more adults coming along, they're £3 each. Admission to the museum is included on the day, so you can stick around and see the rest of the collection after the session finishes.
