The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra presents a concert of guitar music ranging from blues and rock to metal and jazz, conducted by Stephen Bell with Adam Martin and Alex Voysey on guitar.
Guitar Superstars comes to the Mayflower Theatre on Sunday 16 May 2027, with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra taking the lead. It's part of the BSO's Pops series, which pairs popular classics with a full symphonic backing, and this one focuses on live guitar music. The set pulls from a broad range of styles — blues, rock, metal and jazz — so you'll hear the guitar in a few different guises across the night.
On stage, the orchestra is conducted by Stephen Bell, with Adam Martin and Alex Voysey on guitar and vocalists Emma Kershaw, Steve Trowell and Mick Wilson. The BSO is a registered charity and has played at the Mayflower since the 1950s; the partnership was built to bring live orchestral music to audiences in and around Southampton, with both organisations invested in outreach and local community connections. The Mayflower itself is a Grade II listed city-centre venue with a capacity of 2,300.
