A workshop using origami techniques to create two folded bookforms, suitable for beginners and artists looking to adapt their work into structural forms.
Katherine Anteney is running a folded books workshop at Southampton City Art Gallery on Saturday 10 October, from 2pm to 5pm. It's a short session where she'll show you how to use origami techniques to make two folded bookforms, so you'll walk away with a couple of finished pieces in one afternoon.
Anteney is an award-winning printmaker, and this is one of the more accessible ways to get into her work. The session is open to beginners, so you don't need any prior experience with origami or bookbinding to join in. It's also aimed at artists who already work on paper and want to see how they can adapt their pieces into structural, three-dimensional forms. All the materials are provided, so you just need to turn up.
If you're interested in her other work, this isn't her only session at the gallery. She's also leading a Three Day Linocut Course called Black, White and Beyond, which runs from 16 September 2026 to 22 July 2027, where she teaches linocut and colour reduction printing. The workshop is organised by Southampton Cultural Services.
