Outdoor cinema adventure film festival at Itchen Valley Country Park featuring award-winning adventure, culture and environmental documentaries.
Frontier Sapiens is bringing its outdoor cinema to Itchen Valley Country Park on Friday 7 August, as part of its adventure film festival. The night runs from 20:45 to 23:00, so it's a late one that starts after dark and carries on well into the evening.
The programme is a collection of the best adventure, cultural and environmental films of 2026. It's not a single feature, but a curated selection of documentaries that fit those three themes, so you'll see a few different films rather than one long movie. The focus is on adventure, culture and the environment, and the films are all from this year.
Frontier Sapiens describes itself as a pop-up cinema that takes award-winning adventure, culture and environmental documentaries to iconic venues across the UK. They pitch it as more than an ordinary movie night, a shared experience under the stars. It's a touring setup, so they're bringing the screen and sound to the park for the night rather than using a permanent cinema.

There are a couple of practical things to keep in mind before you head down. Tickets don't include seating, so you'll need to bring your own blankets, cushions or camping chairs. There's limited bench seating that can be reserved when you book, but for the most part, you're providing your own spot. Food and drink are available on-site, or you can bring your own. The park is at Allington Lane, Southampton, SO30 3HQ, and the films run from 20:45 to 23:00.
