Art workshop led by Emma Morrissey to create surrealist art using watercolour, inspired by the gallery's surrealism display.
Emma Morrissey is leading a surrealist art workshop at Southampton City Art Gallery on Saturday 15 August, from 2pm to 5pm. It's a three-hour session that starts with a walk around the gallery's surrealism display, so you'll get to see the work on the walls before you pick up a brush yourself. After that, the group moves into the workshop part, where Morrissey guides you through creating your own surrealist piece using watercolour, building from simple shapes and abstract themes.
Morrissey is an artist and tutor, and she'll be running the whole thing from start to finish. The session is open to adults and young people over 16, so it's as much for anyone who just wants a creative afternoon as it is for people who already paint. It forms part of the wider Southampton Cultural Services / Southampton Museums and Gallery programme, which runs the gallery on Commercial Road.
