Coyote vs. Acme

Coyote vs. Acme is playing at Showcase Cinema De Lux in West Quay, with screenings running daily from Friday 21 August to Thursday 27 August. It's a stage show that puts Wile E. Coyote in the lead, and the premise is exactly what you'd expect: after decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedevilled by bungees, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberised by rogue bands and hurled off every cliff in the Southwest, he's finally fighting back.

He doesn't go it alone, though. He teams up with Kevin Avery, a billboard accident lawyer played by Will Forte, to take on Buddy Crane, the slick corporate counsel played by John Cena, and ACME, Inc. itself — the profit-obsessed conglomerate behind every one of the Coyote's chaotic catastrophes. It's a legal battle on a grand scale, with the Coyote finally getting his day in court against the company that's been supplying his failures for years.

There's a showing almost every day of the week, so you've got plenty of options. Friday to Tuesday run 09:00, 10:00, 14:20 and 16:50, with Monday adding an 11:50. Saturday is slightly different, starting at 09:20. Wednesday has 09:00, 11:20, 13:50 and 16:20, and Thursday runs 09:15, 11:45, 14:15 and 16:45. If you're taking a group, there's a family ticket for £30.

Standard tickets are £8.90 to £11.40, with OAP and NUS at £7.95 to £8.95, under 15s at £7.45 to £7.95, and military £7.50 with valid ID. Gallery seats are £16.40. XPlus films add £3, 3D films add £2, and 3D glasses are £1. You'll find the cinema on Level 4 of the West Quay Shopping Centre, SO15 1QF.
