Art for All: Summer Sunprints

Art for All: Summer Sunprints is at Tudor House and Garden on Monday 24 August, a guided cyanotype printing session set in the garden. It's part of the Art for All activity series running at Tudor House, and this one is aimed at children aged four and over.

If you've never come across cyanotype, it's a camera-less photographic process that uses sunlight to create those distinctive deep blue prints. The session is built around the garden itself: you'll spend time planning and arranging your own composition, then leave it to the sun to do the work. Once the exposure is done, you 'develop' the prints in water to reveal the image. There's a wet-weather option too, so it's not entirely dependent on the British summer behaving itself.

Each workshop runs for about 45 minutes, and there are three sessions to choose from across the day: 10.15am to 11.15am, 11.30am to 12.30pm, and 1.15pm to 2.15pm. It's a hands-on one, so you'll be doing the planning and the printing yourself rather than just watching. Adults are welcome to join in, and there's a free accompanying adult ticket available for anyone keeping a young person company. Everyone under 16 needs to be accompanied, so you'll be there with them throughout. It's a good way to spend a bank holiday Monday morning or afternoon in the garden with the kids.
