A creative workshop where participants create their own Tudor portrait necklace using shrinkable paper.
Tudor House and Garden is running an Art for All session on Tuesday 28 July, where you can make your own Tudor portrait necklace. The whole thing is built around shrinkable paper: you draw your portrait, and then it gets shrunk down into a small, hard charm you can wear. It's a simple enough premise, but it's a nice way to spend an hour making something you actually get to keep.
The session is aimed at ages six and over, and adults are welcome to join in too. If you're bringing someone younger, all under-16s have to be accompanied, and there are free accompanying adult tickets available for those keeping a young person company, so you can sit and create alongside them without it costing you extra.
It's worth remembering where you'll be doing it. Tudor House is Southampton's oldest museum and its most important historic building, and it holds more than 800 years of history right in the heart of the Old Town. The timber-framed house facing St Michael's Square dates to the late 15th century, and King John's Palace, the Norman house next door, goes back another 300 years. It first opened as the city's museum in 1912, so there's a fair bit of the city's past gathered under one roof.

There are three sessions to choose from on the day: 10.15am to 11.15am, 11.30am to 12.30pm, and 1.15pm to 2.15pm, so you can pick the one that fits your morning or afternoon. You'll find it at Tudor House Museum, Bugle St, Southampton SO14 2AD.
