A creative workshop for children aged five and over to print and personalise their own pencil case to take home, with adults welcome to participate.
Southampton City Art Gallery is running a pencil case printing workshop on Wednesday 26 August, part of its Art for All family of activities. It's aimed at the start of the school term, and the whole point is that you get to print and personalise your own pencil case to take home. It's open to children aged five and over, and adults are welcome to join in too.
The gallery sits in the city's Cultural Quarter on Commercial Road, right next to SeaCity Museum. It opened in 1939 and draws art lovers, curious amateurs and people who simply enjoy the atmosphere of a gallery, with exhibitions ranging from painting, sculpture and drawing to photography and film alongside permanent collections and displays that change regularly. Entry is free, and the venue caters for families with gallery trails, monthly art clubs and a wide range of activities for all ages. It's recently reopened after a major upgrade, with a restored and repainted upstairs atrium.

Tickets are £10 per participating child or adult, and there's a free accompanying adult ticket for those coming along with a younger one — under 16s have to be accompanied.
