Christmas workshop for all ages where participants design and create their own Gonk, a charming festive figure made from everyday materials.
Art for All: Gonks, Gonks and More Gonks is back at Southampton City Art Gallery on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December, the gallery's take on a Christmas tradition. The Gonks are festive friends built from everyday materials that turn out surprisingly well, and the whole thing is run by Southampton Cultural Services as part of the city's Christmas programme.
Each session is a workshop for the whole family, so it's one of those things you can do with the kids rather than just taking them along. You'll spend the hour designing what your Gonk will wear and what accessories it'll sport, and you'll leave with your own finished creation to take home. It's a proper hands-on activity, and since it's open to all ages, it works as well for a toddler as it does for someone who just wants to make something festive.
There are plenty of slots to choose from across the two days, so you can fit it in around your other Christmas plans. Sessions run from 10am to 11am, 11.30am to 12.30pm, 1pm to 2pm, and 2.30pm to 3.30pm, with various other times throughout the day, too. It's an hour each time, which is just enough to get your Gonk sorted without taking up the whole afternoon.

It's £6.50 per participant, whether adult or child, and that includes one accompanying non-participating adult, so you can bring the little ones along without paying for everyone in the room. You'll find it at Southampton City Art Gallery on Commercial Road, SO14 7LP.
