A family-friendly fabric printing workshop where participants decorate a tote bag with spooky bat prints for Halloween, suitable for children aged 4 and over.
Southampton City Art Gallery is hosting a Bats on Bags Printing Workshop on Monday 26 October, a family-friendly fabric printing session that runs as part of the Art for All programme. It's aimed at getting families crafty this Halloween, and the project is straightforward: you decorate a tote bag with spooky bat prints, which you can then use for trick-or-treating on the night.
The workshop is open to children aged 4 and over, so it's one of those activities that works for the younger ones and the older kids alike. It's run by Southampton Cultural Services, and the whole thing is set up as a drop-in session rather than a one-off event. There are three separate slots to choose from throughout the day: 10.30am to 12 noon, 12.30pm to 2pm, and 2.30pm to 4pm. If you've got school runs or other commitments, you can just pick the one that fits your schedule best.

It's held at the gallery on Commercial Road, right in the city centre, so it's easy enough to get to. The price is £8.00 per participating child or adult, and there's a free accompanying adult ticket if you're bringing a participant along, which keeps the cost down if you're coming as a family. Between the three sessions, there's plenty of room to fit it in around your day, and you'll walk away with a finished bag ready for Halloween.
