Art For All: Animal Magic Monoprinting

Southampton City Art Gallery is running Animal Magic Monoprinting on Wednesday 12 August, a creative workshop for anyone aged five and up. The whole thing is part of the Art For All family of activities, a programme of accessible creative workshops the gallery puts on throughout the year.

The session is all about monoprinting, which is a process of printing from a single image. Because you're working from one plate, each print is a unique one-off rather than part of a run, so you'll walk away with something that can't be repeated. The theme is animals, and the brief is simple: create a monoprint inspired by your favourite animal. If you're stuck for ideas, there are plenty of animals on display around the gallery to visit before the workshop starts, so you can have a wander and get some inspiration first.

It's not just for the kids, either. Adults are welcome to take part alongside the children, which makes it a decent one to do together if you've got a young one who's keen on art. The session runs in three separate slots throughout the day: 10.30am to 12 noon, 12.30pm to 2pm, and 2.30pm to 4pm, so you can pick the one that fits your day best. Each one costs £8.
