Online art-inspired creative writing session run by The Writers Workshop, using a single artwork to spark themed writing prompts and exercises.
Write from the Art is back online on Sunday 1 November, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. It's an art-inspired creative writing session that takes a single artwork as its starting point and unfolds it into a series of themed prompts and exercises to spark new writing. The whole thing is pitched as a friendly, stimulating approach for anyone who enjoys words in company: talking with them, exploring what they mean and writing them down. If you've ever looked at a painting and wondered what story was hiding in it, this is exactly the kind of thing that lets you pull it out.
Rosie Carnall is facilitating this one. She's a familiar face in the city's writing scene, running Writing Workouts and the monthly Sharing the View: Philosophy in the Gallery sessions at the Graves Gallery in Sheffield. The session is run by The Writers Workshop, a Sheffield-based organisation that programmes writing events and workshops focused on community, creativity, craft and careers for writers of all backgrounds. It was founded by Beverley Ward, who also runs writing-for-wellbeing events like the Sunday Soul Sessions, and the workshop offers both in-person sessions at Orchard Square and online events like this one.

Because it's online, you can join in from wherever you are, and the session runs for ninety minutes on the Sunday afternoon. Tickets start from £0.00, so it's an easy way to spend a bit of your Sunday with some writing and some other people doing the same.
