Drag lip-sync comedy musical by Queen Connie set in a medieval world of love and betrayal, with a soundtrack of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.
Miss Connie-Dom is back at Crookes Social Club on Saturday 20 March with Wig-Or-Mortis: A Court of Whres and Roses*, a new drag show from the Sheffield queen. It's a drag lip-sync comedy musical, and this one sees her returning from 'early retirement' to the stage.
The show is set in a medieval world, and it follows Connie as she navigates a dark tale of love and betrayal, carried along by a soundtrack of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. It's billed as a full theatrical spectacle, and the annual Wig-or-Mortis ball is its signature night. The content warning is a fair one: expect strong language, sex and sex references, infrequent violence and emotional scenes.
Behind the name Miss Connie-Dom is Queen Connie, a Sheffield drag queen who's built her act around this particular blend of lip-sync, comedy and musical theatre. Wig-Or-Mortis is her own production, and the medieval setting and pop soundtrack are the two things that run through it. If you're familiar with her work, you'll know the format: drag as a theatrical performance rather than a cabaret set, with a full story to follow from start to finish.
