A Q&A-style stand-up show that satirises corporate workplace culture, corporate jargon and modern work-life absurdities.
Wankernomics comes to Sheffield City Hall on Saturday 14 November, with two shows on the one day: a matinee at 2pm and an evening performance at 7:30pm. It's the latest version of the show, billed as V4.1.
The duo behind it describe themselves as Australia's favourite workplace wankers. The show is a Q&A-style, thought-leadership driven stand-up set that takes aim at corporate bullshit and how it's taking over the working world and our lives. They go after the pointless meetings and the mission statements, the 'synergies', and the modern absurdity of having to set up an account, download an app and answer a survey just to buy a pair of socks. It's a look at the language and the logic of the office, and how it spills over into everything else.
They've been doing this for a while now. The show has had two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, more than 50 million views online, and a Sunday Times best-selling book, Wankernomics: A Deep Dive into Workplace Bullshttery*. Critics have called it 'exquisite', 'meticulously written', 'wickedly clever satire' and 'the most original show we saw this year'.
