Power trio Voodoo Room plays Hendrix, Clapton and Cream without the tribute act gimmick at Lamproom Theatre.
Voodoo Room are playing the Lamproom Theatre on Friday 21 May 2027, with a set built around the music of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Cream. It's a classic power trio format — guitar, bass and drums — and the set pulls from those three names, so you'll hear the Hendrix psych-rock alongside the blues-heavy work Clapton did both on his own and with Cream.
They describe themselves as a tribute to that music, and they draw on some of the UK's finest musicians to put it together. The set is high-energy and world-class, and the power trio setup keeps it close to how those records were made in the first place. It's a good way to hear those three names in one night rather than having to track them down separately.
One thing they make a point of is how they approach the tribute side of things. They don't do the dress-up or look-alike formula, and they don't try to mimic the original artists' stage personas. Instead, they present themselves as great musicians playing great music, and they leave the focus on the songs rather than the costumes. It's a straightforward way of doing it — the music is the whole point.
