Screening of Michael Dougherty's 'Trick 'r Treat' presented by Reel Cult, with a Halloween-themed quiz before the film.
Reel Cult are back in Sheffield on Monday 26 October with a screening of Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat, held at The System on Botsford Street. It's a horror anthology that fits the Halloween window perfectly, and the night is built around it rather than just the film on its own.
Things get going before the main feature. The evening opens with a Halloween-themed quiz, with spooky kino-themed prizes up for grabs for whoever comes out on top. The film itself follows on from that, and it runs for about two and a half hours, so it's a proper night in rather than a quick trip to the cinema. If you're not familiar with it, Trick 'r Treat is an anthology of interconnected stories set on Halloween night in a small town, with the mysterious Sam — the little trick-or-treater in the burlap sack mask — appearing throughout. It's the kind of thing that works best on a big screen with a room full of people.

Reel Cult describe themselves as 'back' with this one, and the whole thing is set up as a full evening's outing. Doors open at 6:30pm, the quiz kicks off at 6:45pm, and the film starts at 7:30pm. You'll want to be in early if you're planning to play the quiz, as that's where the prizes are. Tickets are £6 for general admission, or £7 if you want to add a donation. One thing to keep in mind: you have to book in advance through Eventbrite, as none are sold on the door, so don't leave it until the night. Under-18s are admitted only with a parent or legal guardian. The System is at 6-8 Botsford Street, S3 9PF.
