Stage show by former Lindisfarne members Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell celebrating the band's history and classic hits.
The Lindisfarne Story comes to Sheffield City Hall on Sunday 2 May 2027, with former Lindisfarne members Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell taking the stage. It's a show they devised themselves, and it does two things at once: they play the band's songs and recount the story of their rise to fame, along with the people they met and worked with along the way.
To get the scale of it, you have to look back. Lindisfarne was Tyneside's best-loved band for more than thirty years, and it's been over half a century since their album Fog On The Tyne sat at number one on the UK album charts, becoming the biggest-selling UK album of 1972. Their career included a record 120 appearances at Newcastle City Hall, and a string of hits that most people will recognise: 'Meet Me On The Corner', 'Lady Eleanor', 'Clear White Light', 'Road To Kingdom Come', 'January Song' and 'Run For Home'.
That's the material Laidlaw and Mitchell are drawing from. They're not just playing the songs, though; they're telling the story behind them, so you get the music and the history together. It's a look back at a band that spent decades as a fixture of the North East, from the chart-topping early seventies through to the long run that followed.

It's a Sunday night at Sheffield City Hall, and the whole thing is built around the songs and the stories that made the band what they were. If you've got a soft spot for the old records, it's a good way to hear them again with two of the people who were actually there.
