Escape game experience in a sleek, industrial-inspired room, with pizza and cocktails available for an extra charge.
The Great Escape Game is open in the city centre on Tuesday 27 October, and it's a good shout if you're putting together a group of four for the day. It's based at St. James House, Vicar Lane, S1 2EX, right in the heart of Sheffield, and it's open daily from 09:00 to 23:30, so you can slot it in whenever suits you best.
What they do here is a bit more than your standard escape room. They describe it as a mix of escape games, drinking games and museum exploration, with rooms they say are cutting-edge in design and challenging to get through. The whole place has a sleek, industrial-inspired interior, and they've got venues in both Sheffield and Leeds. If you're into puzzles and don't mind a bit of a challenge, it's a solid way to spend a few hours with a small group.
There's more going on under the same roof, too. They run Gameshow Allstars, which they call the UK's first TV gameshow activity bar — a spot where you drink, eat and compete to find out who the gameshow champion of the group is. It's a well-known nightlife attraction in both cities, and names like Google, Emmerdale, Red Bull, the BBC, Coca-Cola and Harry Potter have played it. This July they added two more experiences: the interactive Haunted Hound bar and The AR Dungeon Darts, which bring a bit of a twist to the usual puzzle-solving.
