Free record fair with around 18,000 LPs, 3,000 7" singles, CDs and cassettes from several dealers, with drinks and food at the bar.
The Big Tree Record Fair returns to The Big Tree in Woodseats on Sunday 25 October, from 9am to 2pm. It's run by AA Record Fairs, who stage a regular circuit of fairs across a 66-mile radius of Sheffield, so this is one stop in a wider run of dates rather than a one-off.
The venue is a pub, and the fair takes over the room with around 18,000 LPs and 3,000 7" singles, alongside CDs and cassettes brought in by a number of different dealers. That's a lot of crates to get through in five hours, so it's the kind of thing you can either dip into for a quick look or spend the whole morning in. You can buy drinks and food from the bar while you browse, which makes it easy to settle in for a few hours.
One thing that sets this apart from a standard sale is that it's a two-way street. If you've got records of your own you're looking to move on, you're encouraged to bring them along and trade: the organisers are buying all day. So you can turn up with a stack of vinyl and leave with a different one, rather than just spending. The pub itself is under new ownership, and the fair fills the space for the morning.
