Synthwave festival with live music from LeBrock, retro arcade machines, 80s cosplay and vendors at The Corporation.
Synthrave Live comes to The Corporation on Saturday 14 November, with LeBrock taking the stage. It's a synthwave afternoon in the city centre, starting at 13:00.
Synthrave Live started as a gathering for synthwave fans to celebrate the music, culture and community they love. It was founded by Shaun Phillips, of LeBrock, during the COVID pandemic when he was running a weekly online DJ set as an initiative to raise awareness for mental health. The event is conceived as a celebration of retro-futurist culture, bringing together live music, nostalgia, friendship and shared experiences under one roof, with retro arcade machines, 80s cosplay, vendors and immersive experiences alongside the stage.
LeBrock themselves combine 1980s melodic rock riffs with shimmering synthwave melodies and a heartfelt vocal delivery. The band cites their first EP, Action and Romance, as a synth-heavy fan favourite that has earned hundreds of thousands of Spotify streams. That sound — the intersection of melodic rock and synthwave — is exactly what they bring to the live set.
