Book session hosted by Sol and Amy N to discuss People Person by Candice Carty-Williams, part of the Steel City Book Club.
Sol and Amy N are hosting a story time session at HYGGE Coffee shop on Sunday 15 November, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. It's part of the Steel City Book Club, and the book they're working through is People Person by the award-winning Candice Carty-Williams.
If you haven't come across it, People Person follows five half-siblings — Dimple, Nikisha, Danny, Lizzie and Prynce — who don't share much more than their abandonment issues. A catastrophic event forces them back together, and in the process, they have to reconnect with Cyril Pennington, the absent father they never really knew. It's a story about the true nature of family and the complexities of belonging, and the club describes it as propulsive, full of heart and humour, and ultimately about homecoming.
That's the book they'll be discussing, so if you've been reading it or are thinking of picking it up, this is the session to join. Sol and Amy N are running it as part of the Steel City Book Club, which means it's a group meeting around a shared read rather than a formal talk — the kind of thing where you can turn up and chat about the book with other people who've read it.
