Free all-ages hip hop day at the food hall Cambridge Street Collective with all-day DJs, live breaking, open cyphers and street-art lettering workshops.
Sounds of Hip Hop takes over Cambridge Street Collective on Sunday 25 October, from 12:00 to 18:00, as part of Black History Month. It's a full afternoon dedicated to Sheffield's hip-hop community, and it's free to get in.
The day is built around DJs playing all day, with live breaking and open cyphers running alongside. There are free breaking tasters for anyone who wants to have a go, and street-art lettering workshops for those more into the visual side of things. It's pitched as an all-ages session, so families are welcome and you don't need any experience to join in.
The venue itself is Cambridge Street Collective, a vibrant food hall in Sheffield city centre at 11 Backfields, S1 4HP. It's home to more than 20 vendors serving global cuisine and is described as Europe's largest purpose-built food hall, with a capacity of 300. That means you can drift between the music and the food throughout the afternoon.
