Manchester Camerata plays Sheffield City Hall, with the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus conducted by Darius Battiwalla, in the Sheffield International Concert Season 2026/27.
Manchester Camerata are playing at Sheffield City Hall on Saturday 5 December, as part of the Sheffield International Concert Season 2026/27. The concert is presented by the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus, the City Hall's resident chorus, and it starts at 7pm in the Oval Hall.
The Chorus is led by music director Darius Battiwalla, who conducts from the harpsichord. He's worked with orchestras including the Hallé, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata, and has taken the Chorus to the Proms and onto BBC Philharmonic recordings for Chandos. The society frequently joins forces with the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus and the Hallé Choir, and has taken part in high-profile performances such as Elgar's The Apostles in 2007 and Beethoven's Symphony no.9 in 2008. Their concerts are regularly reviewed by local papers including the Sheffield Telegraph and the Yorkshire Post.

The Chorus themselves were a Royal Philharmonic Society Award nominee, shortlisted for the Inspiration Award in 2024. They're the resident chorus here at the City Hall, so this is one of their home dates. The programme for the night hasn't been confirmed yet, but the bill is Manchester Camerata performing as part of the wider concert season. It's a Saturday night in the Oval Hall, so it's a good one to keep on the radar if you're planning your December.
