Informal gathering of composers, filmmakers and games developers with talks by TV drama composers, a film scoring contest and industry mentoring.
SensoriaPro is at The Workstation on Friday 23 October, from 10am to 5pm. It's put on by Sensoria Festival as an informal gathering for composers, filmmakers, music publishers, music supervisors and games developers, and the day is built around practical sessions, roundtable talks and a one-to-one speed mentoring session with industry experts. It runs in association with PRS for Music, the Musicians' Union and the FAM Music Talent Agency.
The programme mixes talks with a scoring contest. Antony Genn speaks on 'From Pulp to Peaky Blinders', and Aaron May and David Ridley, working as A&D, talk about composing for TV drama. The contest is for the film SirΔt, with Nainita Desai and Chi Chi Nwakodo judging. Between those, there are roundtable talks and the speed mentoring session, where you get one-to-one time with industry experts.
It's a day for people working in music and film to get out of their studios and meet others doing similar work. The mix of talks and networking means you can spend the morning listening and the afternoon talking, and the mentoring session is a good way to get a bit of direct feedback or advice from someone who's been there. The whole thing is held at The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, in Sheffield City Centre (S1 2BX), so it's easy to get to if you're coming from within the city.
