Stand-up show 'Stuff' by Yorkshire comedian Scott Bennett, who uses comedy to explore getting rid of the things that clutter our lives.
Scott Bennett is playing the Octagon Centre on Saturday 22 May 2027, with doors opening at 19:00. He's a Yorkshire comedian and product designer, a regular on BBC Radio 4 and a face from Live at the Apollo, so if you've spent any time with British comedy over the last few years, you've probably come across him. He's a local one, too, hailing from Yorkshire himself.
He's picked up a fair few accolades along the way. In 2022, he was shortlisted for Chortle's Best Club Comedian, and he's walked away as English Comedian of the Year Runner Up, Comedy Cellar New Act of the Year, and Old Speckled Hen Comedian of the Year. The Huddersfield Examiner called him a 'star of the future', and the Evening Standard has described him as 'live comedy's best kept secret'.
Critics have pointed to two things in particular: his tight control of material and an 'in the moment' unpredictability that keeps a set from feeling too rehearsed. The show itself comes from a place that's easy to relate to — his desire to cleanse his life of 'stuff' in the face of the environmental crisis. It's a personal angle that gives the comedy something to hold onto, rather than just a string of jokes.
