Cinema screenings of nine productions from The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera, including The Nutcracker, Manon, The Magic Flute and Romeo & Juliet.
The Royal Ballet and Opera are bringing nine productions to the big screen at Showroom Cinema, with a season that runs from October 2026 through to May 2027. It's a long stretch, so you can pick and choose the ones that actually interest you rather than trying to fit them all in. The programme mixes the old favourites with a few new stagings, and the whole thing is about taking work that usually stays inside the opera house and showing it to audiences far beyond.
Among the classics you'll find The Nutcracker, Manon, and The Magic Flute. There's also Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo & Juliet, which they describe as a mesmerising ballet. The newer stuff comes from a partnership with The Metropolitan Opera, which brings Macbeth and La fanciulla del West to the screen. La fanciulla is staged by British director Richard Jones and marks the company's first new production of the work in more than 30 years, so that one is a bit of a rarity.
Because it's a cinema season rather than a single run, you've got plenty of time to work your way through the line-up. The screenings open up from October 2026 and keep going until May 2027, so if you're not into the winter classics, you can just wait for the spring. It's a good way to catch a bit of the Royal Opera House without having to make the trip to Covent Garden.

One practical thing to keep in mind: the screenings carry a 12 rating, so it's not exactly a toddlers' outing. If you're planning a family trip, that's the detail that matters. The full programme is available at Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, running from October 2026 to May 2027.
