Concert by singer-songwriter Richard Hawley at Sheffield City Hall, celebrating his long career and connection to the city.
Richard Hawley is back at Sheffield City Hall for two nights, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 December 2026. It's a homecoming in the truest sense: Hawley is one of the city's most celebrated musical exports, a singer-songwriter whose career has run for more than three decades as a solo artist and as a member of Longpigs and Pulp.
Much of that connection comes down to Coles Corner, the album that became almost inseparable from him and from the city that inspired it. It takes its name from the famous Sheffield meeting place that once stood near Barker's Pool at the other end of Fargate, and songs like 'Lady's Bridge' and 'Truelove's Gutter' went on to help inspire the Olivier Award-winning play Standing at the Sky's Edge. He's a long-standing collaborator with fellow Sheffield legends Pulp, and has worked with Arctic Monkeys, Paul Weller, Nancy Sinatra, Elbow and Tom Jones.
His 2024 album, In This City They Call You Love, arrived two and a half decades into his solo career. Last Christmas, he marked the 20th anniversary of Coles Corner with three sold-out nights at City Hall, which were later released as the live album Live at Sheffield City Hall 2025. These two December dates follow that same tradition of returning to the hall for the festive season.
