Free forum run by REN to help voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations learn about and take part in health research.
REN are hosting a community participation forum at Unit 12, Maltravers Road on Tuesday 27 October, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. It's a morning session rather than an evening one, so it's one of those things you can slot in before the rest of your day takes over.
REN describes the forum as a way of creating safe, familiar spaces where people can learn about research, share their own experiences and explore what it actually means to take part in a study. It's not a lecture or a presentation; the whole point is the participation part, so it's designed for you to have your say rather than just sit and listen.
The conversation focuses on how VCSE organisations — voluntary, community and social enterprises — engage with and develop clinical and academic health research, and what support they need to take the next step. If you're involved with a local community group or a social enterprise that's had some brush with health research, or if you've just wondered how that side of things works from the ground up, this is where those questions get aired. It's about the practical side of how these organisations fit into the research process and what they need to make it work better.
