First in-person gathering of Groundation UK's book club to read and reason around 'Great and Unfortunate Things' by Jason Arday, with creative contributions welcome.
Read & Reason is the new book club from Groundation UK, and it's having its first gathering at SADACCA (Sheffield And District African Caribbean Community Association) on Sunday 25 October, from 4:00 to 5:30pm. The book on the table for this one is Great and Unfortunate Things by Jason Arday.
One of the best things about it is that you don't actually need to have read the book to come along. The session is built around reading and reasoning together, so you can show up and join the conversation even if you're starting from scratch. If you have read it, there's plenty to get your teeth into; if you haven't, you can just listen in and see where it takes you.
It's not just a discussion, either. Groundation UK welcomes creative contributions inspired by the book, so if you've got poetry or music that fits the mood, you're encouraged to bring it and share it. It's as much about what the book sparks in you as it is about the text itself.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Groundation UK describes Read & Reason as a laid-back space for books, conversation, creativity and community, and that's a good way to sum it up. It's a gathering that runs both in person and online, with a joining link sent to anyone attending remotely, so you can tune in from home if you can't make it into the city. Entry is free, and it runs from 4:00 to 5:30pm at SADACCA, 48 Wicker, Sheffield S3 8JB.
