Over-18s roast battle competition where comedians trade insults in a no-holds-barred war of words, presented by The Neils.
PIT FIGHT is the brand-new live roast battle from The Grit Pit, and it's landing at Mary St Live on Friday 13 November. The format is straightforward: two comedians go head-to-head armed with nothing but savage punchlines, questionable morals, and whatever personal information they can dig up about their opponent, trading insults in a no-holds-barred war of words. It's a roast in the truest sense, where the goal isn't to be clever so much as to be ruthless.
There's a competitive edge to the night that sets it apart from a standard stand-up bill. Judges and the audience decide who wins each battle, and the victors climb a league table, so the stakes build over time. The organisers bill it as loud, ruthless and ridiculously funny, and they're quick to clarify that there's no actual fighting involved — the only thing taking a beating is the comedians' reputations. It's the kind of night where reputations go down the mine and only the funniest come back up.
The whole thing is presented by The Neils and runs for around three hours, so it's a proper night out rather than a quick set. It's strictly for over-18s, which makes sense given the roast format. If you're into comedy that doesn't pull its punches, this is exactly the sort of thing to have on your radar for a Friday night in the city centre.
