Overpass play Electric Studios on Leadmill Road, touring their debut album 'Elsewhere, Always'.
Overpass play Electric Studios on Friday 6 November, part of their Elsewhere, Always tour. It's a headline show presented by Futuresound Events, and the set is built around the new album.
Elsewhere, Always was recorded at Kempston Street Studios in Liverpool with producer Rich Turvey. It's their debut, and the songs look at the uncertainties of young adulthood — the lead single, 'Union Station', came from frontman Max Newbold's reaction to a dog-eat-dog world. The sound sits in alt-rock and shoegaze, and the band cites Jeff Buckley, Bert Bacharach and Jeff Lynne as influences, which gives you a rough idea of where they're coming from: Buckley's voice, Bacharach's songwriting, and Lynne's production all pointing in different directions at once.
There's a bit of a story to how they came together, too. Overpass formed in Birmingham during lockdown when Newbold and India Armstrong met at fifteen and teamed up with guitarist Elliot Rawlings and drummer Jake Bishop. They've spent the last year and a half on the road, selling out two headline tours in 2025 and playing larger venues alongside The Wombats, Wunderhorse and Inhaler. This run is the first time they're out touring the new record itself.
