Channel One Sound System brings its heavyweight bass and roots sound to Sheffield on its UK tour, for ages 18 and over.
Channel One Sound System are playing Electric Studios on Thursday 5 November, as part of a nationwide UK tour. They're bringing their heavyweight bass and roots to Sheffield for the night, and it's the only date they've got scheduled for the city.
For those who aren't familiar, Channel One is a sound system, not a band in the usual sense. That means the focus is on the selectors and the rig rather than a stage act, and the whole thing is built around the bass. They've been around for decades, and this tour takes that sound across the country, with Sheffield being one of the stops on the way. It's roots reggae played loud, and the bass is exactly what they're known for.
The night is put on by Free From Sleep, a local promoter, and it's for ages 18 and over, so you'll need to be of age to get in. If you're used to the sound system format, you know how it works: the music is the main event, and the bass is meant to be felt as much as heard.
