Open Mic Night at Utopia Theatre

Utopia Theatre holds its Open Mic Night on the first Sunday of every month, with the next one running from 6pm to 8pm at the Utopia Theatre Creative Hub, 11 Rockingham Gate, Sheffield S1 4JD. It's a free platform for performers across all genres, and it's open to anyone who wants a space to share their work with a supportive audience in the theatre's inclusive room.

The night welcomes all disciplines and backgrounds. You'll find poets, musicians, actors, storytellers, comedians, dancers, and DJs, alongside artists experimenting with something new. Performers of all skill levels are welcome, with pieces kept between five and ten minutes. The organisers set out to support people from groups underrepresented in the arts, so it's as much about opening the door as it is about what happens on stage.

It's designed as a social occasion as much as a showcase. There's an artist exhibition to look at, and a bar serving cold beers, wines and soft drinks. The idea is that it's a space where audiences can discover new voices, ideas and perspectives, and where people who might not otherwise cross paths can meet. If you're performing, it's a chance to get your work in front of people; if you're just coming along, it's a good way to see what's being made in the city.

Doors open at 5:30pm, and the night runs until 8pm. Entry is free, though a donation of £5 is recommended, or you can pay what you can. The venue is the Utopia Theatre Creative Hub, 11 Rockingham Gate, Sheffield S1 4JD.
