Talk by Chris Chibnall, BAFTA-winning screenwriter and author of The Parkwood Murders, in conversation with writer Naomi Frisby.
Chris Chibnall is back in Sheffield on Friday 16 October, talking about his new crime novel The Parkwood Murders at the University of Sheffield Drama Studio. He's an alumnus of the university, so it's a bit of a homecoming for him.
Most of you will know Chibnall from the screen rather than the page. He's a BAFTA and Royal Television Society award-winning screenwriter and playwright, with credits like Broadchurch, Doctor Who and Agatha Christie's Seven Dials under his belt, and he's picked up the FIPA Prix D'Honneur along the way. These days he's been bringing that same sense of screen drama to crime fiction. His first thriller, Death at the White Hart, was the bestselling crime debut of 2026 and a British Book Award nominee. The Parkwood Murders is his second, and Lee Child put it plainly: 'This guy knows how to tell a story, that's for sure'.
On the night, he won't be going it alone. He's joined by writer and interviewer Naomi Frisby, whose own short stories have been short-listed for the White Review Prize and long-listed for the Manchester Fiction Prize. The two will be in conversation, so it's a chance to hear him talk through the book and the process behind it.
